40 years and two days after that Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins took Apollo 11 to the moon, our Cuda set its slick tires on the famous Le Mans track for the first time. Thanks to circuit director Patrick Coutant and press officer Magaly Seraphin, our Cuda could make a few laps this morning.
After Chrysler France was all done with their hillclimb racing team in 1974, the cars were sold to the public. Privateer Michel Guicherd
bought the ex-Gurney Trans-Am car that was now fitted with a HEMI. He
contracted former Chrysler works drivers Jean-Claude Géral and Christian
Avril to race in the Touring class of the 1975 Le Mans 24 Hours. Plagued by various problems, the Cuda ran only a best lap of 5.15 and hence did not qualify for the race!
